The Role:
As the Director of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), you will play a critical field-based leadership role in developing, implementing, and managing HSE programs to ensure safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement across all operations. You’ll manage a geographically dispersed team of field HSE Specialists, drive cultural engagement, and collaborate with operations leaders to promote a world-class safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted HSE advisor to field operations, leadership, and clients
  • Oversee and mentor a team of 3–4 HSE Specialists, ensuring high performance and professional development
  • Lead the development and delivery of monthly safety meetings and training sessions
  • Conduct regular HSE compliance audits, inspections, and field visits
  • Lead incident investigations for medium/high severity events using TapRooT or similar methodologies
  • Monitor HSE KPIs, trends, and metrics to drive targeted improvements in safety performance
  • Administer ISN, Veriforce, DISA programs and manage related compliance reporting
  • Support VP of HSE in developing proactive initiatives and company-wide safety strategies
  • Maintain accurate OSHA logs, documentation, and incident tracking
  • Manage customer safety questionnaires and collaborate with clients to support safety initiatives
  • Travel regularly to project sites and attend industry conferences and client meetings
  • Remain on-call to respond to field emergencies, incidents, or site visits as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management or related field strongly preferred
    • 10+ years of HSE experience in Oil & Gas required if no degree
  • 5+ years of direct HSE experience in the oil and gas industry required
  • Prior experience managing or supervising field HSE teams preferred
  • BCSP certification such as CHST, ASP, or CSP strongly preferred
  • In-depth understanding of OSHA, DEP, DOT, and related compliance standards
  • Strong field-based leadership and communication skills
  • Advanced MS Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently
  • Strong analytical and time management skills
  • Hands-on experience with safety management platforms and KPI reporting
  • Experience presenting safety strategies and data to clients and leadership

Schedule:
Full-Time | Regional Office & Field-Based | Travel Required (Local ~50%, Overnight ~25%) Includes both indoor office settings and active outdoor work environments. Exposure to all weather conditions, job site noise, and extensive driving may be required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb, crouch, and stand or walk for extended periods is essential.
