Middle School History Teacher - Cornerstone Academy
Cornerstone Academy is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Middle School History Teacher to teach grades 6–8. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching history from a classical Christian perspective and a love for working with middle school students. This role involves guiding students through a thoughtful exploration of historical events, figures, and ideas while encouraging critical thinking, discernment, and biblical integration.
Key Responsibilities
Teach middle school history courses covering topics such as ancient civilizations, the Middle Ages, early modern Europe, American history, and civics, as appropriate.
Integrate a biblical worldview into the study of history, helping students evaluate historical events and cultures through the lens of Scripture.
Foster a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, respectful dialogue, and a love for learning.
Utilize classical teaching methods such as narration, primary source analysis, Socratic questioning, and historical storytelling.
Collaborate with fellow teachers and administrators to support the school’s classical Christian mission.
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and historical understanding.
Participate in school life, including events, chapel, field trips, and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree; degree in history, education, humanities, or a related field preferred.
A commitment to classical Christian education and a biblical worldview.
Teaching experience preferred, especially in middle school grades.
Ability to make history engaging, relevant, and reflective of God’s sovereign hand throughout time.
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
