Orbital Sidekick is establishing a space-based infrastructure of HSI sensors and analytic capabilities to enable real-time monitoring, detection, and risk management. Were looking for a Remote Sensing AI Researcher who will build out and design machine learning infrastructure for a team of data & remote sensing scientists, working collaboratively with the Analytics and Software teams to deliver data-driven products and solutions. You will contribute to a cross-functional team that is responsible for the full algorithm development process, all the way from human annotation to integration with the platform. Your role as Remote Sensing AI Researcher means that you will be responsible for developing new research that can lead to new products and publications. You will work collaboratively within the company to produce high-level engineering of both the data collection and information delivery platforms. As a Remote Sensing AI Researcher your responsibilities will include: Conducting novel research applying AI/ML to OSKs satellite hyperspectral imagery. Helping transition research to production, deploying models for both batch and online inference as well as embedded on the satellites. Produce analytical infrastructure for AI/ML pipeline development. Inform colleagues and mentor Individual Contributors about AI/ML opportunities and tasks. Publish your research in geospatial and/or AI conferences, write blog posts to show off your work. Basic qualifications: 3+ years experience in ML/AIMS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or similar. Python, Pytorch, ML Flow/ClearML, DVC, Ray, Dask, Python data science stack. Comfortable training models in a cloud (AWS) environment as well as using best practices to track ML experiments. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a startup environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Familiarity with common remote sensing data types and tools, GeoTiffs, GDAL rasterio, xarray. Preferred Skills and Experience: Relevant publications applying AI/ML to remote sensing data at top conferences. Benefits of Working at OSK: We offer competitive compensation and equity packages. Company-sponsored 401K, as well as medical, dental, and vision insurance with 100% premiums covered by OSK for employees and 50% for dependents. $120,000 - $180,000 a year Salary range is for California, Washington & New York City. Salary range for Colorado is $100,000-$160,000. Orbital Sidekick's compensation packages are determined based on multiple factors including business requirements, experience and location.
