Department: Vision Center

Location: 1601 Washington Street, East Boston

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Clinical Director of the Vision Center, the Staff Optometrist will provide eye care services to pediatric and adult patients at the Health Center.

Essential duties include:

• Providing comprehensive exams, problem-based visits, and contact lens fittings; ordering auxiliary testing as needed.
• Diagnosing, treating, and managing ocular conditions; referring cases to ophthalmology when appropriate.
• Communicating with team members across departments for continuity of care.
• Overseeing student externs rotating through the clinic.
• Educating patients and staff on the importance of regular eye care.
• Co-managing post-operative cases with ophthalmology when suitable.
• Attending departmental meetings.
• Adhering to protocols and policies regarding infection control and patient safety.
